Everything conveys an idea, EVERYTHING, and no your not allowed to ignore this and just enjoy whatever floats by:
"GI Joe: Rise of Cobra, is a despicable excuse for a movie... For an action film, it is horrible, but for an American film, it is a disgrace"
http://bighollywood.breitbart.com/cyogerst/2009/08/12/gi-joe-an-obamanation/Every movie, TV show, book or newspaper article presents you with a worldview, usually not a complete one, always an idea of one. As Americans, we have a responsibility to understand what we watch and read because every idea has a consequence, and bad ideas have bad consequences. We can never be relaxed when partaking of any information, whether it a movie or the evening news broadcast. Every thought presented to us, including the way a news story reported, what part got the frown from the anchor person? Who was set as the good guy and who as the bad guy? And what do we know about our news people? It may sound rather droll to live like this, but it simply is required to be a free man/woman! Every thought, every single word or scene in a movie is trying to convey an idea and we have to figure out what those ideas are and evaluate them.
When you have the bad ideas like those that are presented in this new abortion of a movie "GI Joe: Rise of Cobra" if you aren't careful to take note of them, tag them as bad ideas, and discard them we run the risk of bad ideas infecting our thinking.
The obvious horrible ideas in this movie are the de-nationalizing of GI Joe (the real American hero? not anymore) which promotes this whole bad idea of globalization. The leader of the bad guys, why he is running a huge corporation! Bloody big business is evil! And one that a lot of people haven't talked about; The Joe’s are treated like bad-guys in every encounter with the local law enforcement, normal people should fear anyone with guns? The military should be viewed as evil by most people? I guess you get to pick on this one.
At all times, everything you watch, listen or read should be screened by your brain for what the author is trying to say to you and those around you. And talk to your friends and relatives about what you noticed they may be stupid and not interested, but talk to them anyway bad ideas must be countered, lest bad thinking and wrongheadedness become the norm, well more of the norm than it already is.
Every thought, every idea, all the time!
