I took this picture today, from google maps. I am really not sure why I went looking for this particular bit of America, but I'm glad I did. Never before had I looked at this landscape the way I did today, I did not realize it was so large. The rows are barely visible from this distance, making it seem as little more than large corn field outside one of our large cites;
I had never seen Arlington like this or noticed that it is nearly as big as the city of washington, and it struck me as profoundly beautiful, and humbling. I cannot immagine how politicians can walk so close to the best of our country, and produce the worst of it themselves.
