In the past few days great things have happened in our nation, at two events on opposite sides of the country people have openly carried loaded firearms at locations near to the President of the US, and nothing happened.
That’s right folks, 1 guy in New Hampshire and about 20 people in Arizona, including one guy with an AR-15, had loaded weapons in an area secured by the Secret Service and the guns managed to make it out without blasting away at police, schools, or busses full of grandmas, they didn’t even chew on a baby. In the last few days good, free Americans have shown the world what free men look like, without question the men who did these things have guts of steel!
I come to you not to simply commend these courageous people (isn’t it sad to have to refer to people who simply exercise their God given rights, which are even acknowledged in our own Constitution as courageous?) no, I come rather to speak of cowards, people who speak of dark things such as war and freedom and liberty in one breath, and in the next chastise those who exercise their freedoms with the next. People like
Uncle Jimbo at Ace of Spades, who calls our freedom fighters, idiots, dipshits, and dumbasses. And
Allahpundent over at HotAir, and there are many others if you care to troll around the message boards and read what people have to say. Their general idea is that “Just because you can, doesn’t mean you should” and that this will do more to harm the cause of the 2nd Amendment than to help it, and even that we shouldn’t open carry, in these cases in specifically and in general terms, because it will make people uncomfortable, is tactically unwise and will result in a gun ban or hard feelings or something.
I have termed these people, right wing chickens, they are all for fighting for our rights and standing up for true freedom, as long as it doesn’t make anyone uncomfortable, and we surely don’t want to see anyone who isn’t a properly licensed individual with a firearm in public OH NO THAT WOULD BE AWFUL! These are the folks who will fight tooth and nail for a state concealed handgun permit, and will be the first one to call the cops on you if you happen to expose your gun while carrying it. The want an armed America, just so long as no one sees it, rule followers, appeasers, Chickens. I have been told by people I know that they don’t want open carry in Texas because its tactically inferior to concealed carry, I want you to go back and read that again, they are comfortable with open carry being illegal, ostensibly because its tactically poor? I’m not even going to address the tactical advantages of having your firearm available without having to sort through your clothing to get to it in an emergency, I just want you to savor the idea there of people wanting to limit your freedom because of something they are uncomfortable with doing personally. It quite frankly blows my mind that these folks can call themselves gun rights supporters, these are the kind of folks who threw all the NFA folks under the bus back in 1986, the evil black rifle owners under the bus in 1994 and now they are trying to throw all the open carry folks under the bus now.
I find these people to be as dangerous as the Brady bunch, they divide the gun right issue into groups and slice off everything that isn’t their comfort zone, their hobby, their passion and they put all the rest into a pile of expendable rights. Now look, I think right off that a 200lb bench rifle is completely retarded, a complete waste of metal and energy, but I would never want the right to own and operate freely a bench rifle to be taken away, the same with hunting, don’t really have much use for it right now (though my first season of hunting is coming up this fall and that opinion may change) but the right to hunt is as passionate to me as the right to own my ARs and AKs that I find necessary to defend my freedom.
Resist these right win chickens, challenge their opinion, point out their foolishness, truth is the best cure for stupid and buddy these folks have stupid in droves!
We must exercise our freedoms even when, even when, especially when it makes others uncomfortable, a freedom isn’t truly a freedom unless it can be exercised when others don’t want you to. We need more people to operate within the body of the law and open carry around the media, and around these protests, at town halls and in public. And we need more states to fix their unconstitutional laws that ban open carry so that freedom can take an inch back from the totalitarian left.
Next time: Not another Inch, to end incrementalism in America
